G-Wiz
The G-Wiz is the best known and by far the most popular electric vehicle on British roads, with over 1,000 examples sold.
The distributor of the G-Wiz, GoinGreen, has done an impressive job of publicising the vehicle over the last seven years. The G-Wiz has been pictured with politicians such as David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Ken Livingstone and media personalities such as Kristin Scott-Thomas and Jonathan Ross.
Driving the G-Wiz: I was feeling slightly apprehensive at the thought of having to hand over my Vauxhall Corsa for three days and step into the electric Reva G-Wiz, but my worries were unfounded I’m glad to say.
Being quite a tall girl, I fitted comfortably into the car and the back seat and boot were more than big enough to fit my weekly shop.
The G-Wiz is surprisingly nippy and reached an impressive 50mph on the back roads making it perfect for the big city setting. It’s a comfortable car to drive – the small body makes it easy to park and I like the fact that it had a CD player. The boost gear selection gives you the chance to have a bit of extra power for going up steep hills or to increase speeds when necessary.
I liked looking out my kitchen window at night and seeing the G-Wiz parked on the drive with the electric cord giving it a “full tank” for the next day. It made me feel that I was doing my part for the environment by cutting down my carbon footprint.
On the downside, the G-Wiz dosen't suit my usual 30-mile daily motorway commute, but if and when my needs change my name will be first on the list to buy one.

Verdict: Proven technology makes it the default choice for those wanting an electric runabout for the city
